Please join ELL in support of the Miracle League of Westchester (http://www.mlwny.org), an organization that provides children and adults with special needs the opportunity to play baseball.  All the games in Westchester are played on a specially designed field at Ridge Road Park in Hartsdale.  There are various ways to help support this organization including two upcoming fundraising events and volunteering as a “buddy”:

1) Miracle League of Westchester Night at the Rockland Boulders (www.rocklandboulders.com) stadium on Saturday, June 23, 6:30pm.  $15 per ticket includes hot dog and drink.  We will be selling tickets at ELL Team Photo weekend now scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3.  Please look for the MiracleLeague of Westchester table by the parking lot near the photo area.  If you haven’t been to Boulder Stadium for a game, it’s a fun, family friendly way to watch America’s pastime at a very affordable price.  It could also be an excellent team event for your ELL baseball/softball team.  Contact Mitch Chalsen at [email protected] if you want to pre-order tickets for pick up since ELL will have a limited supply of tickets to sell that weekend.   

2) Annual Golf Outing at Sunningdale Country Club in Scarsdale on Monday, June 25.  Details can be found on http://www.mlwny.org including golf pricing, lunch/dinner details, sponsorship opportunities, etc.  It’s the Miracle League’s biggest fundraising event of the year so please come out to support this great cause.  For additional information, please contact Rick Monzon at 914.522.1547 or golf@mlwny.org.   

3) A “buddy” is someone who volunteers to be a gentle guide to the player to help him/her be successful and have fun in the program.  A buddy assists the players in many ways through the game including helping a player field and hit the ball, navigate the bases, and making sure they do not get hurt by any hit or thrown ball.   A buddy can expect to receive satisfaction of bringing happiness/achievement to a child who wouldn’t have the opportunity to play baseball without your help; gain insight into what is means to have a disability; and can receive credit for Mitzvah projects, school/scouts, or community service.  To sign up, you will need to register on https://miracleleagueofwestchester.website.siplay.com/.  The Spring season ends on June 17but it still may be possible to help out during the last few weeks.  Registration for Fall Ball is in August with games starting the weekend after Labor Day.
